Recipe: Julie’s New Casserole


4 oz. pasta
6 mushrooms
1/2 an onion, minced
2 Tbsp. butter, divided
1 Tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
1 oz. gruyere, finely grated
3 strips crisp bacon
½ cup cooked green beans
2 cups cooked cauliflower
1/4 tsp dry mustard
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 clove garlic, minced.


Cook pasta according to package instructions. Slice mushrooms and cook with onions until tender. Set aside. In the same pan, melt 1 Tbsp. butter and stir in flour. Cook 1 minutes. Stir in milk and cook, stirring, until thick. Add mustard, salt and pepper to taste. Drain pasta and mix with sauce, cheese, crumbled bacon, green beans and cauliflower. Put in a little dish. Mix bread crumbs and garlic with butter. Sprinkle crumbs on top of dish. Bake 25 minutes until hot through and browned.
