Request that we carry:

Dear Davis Co-Op Team, I am writing to express my passionate request for the Davis Co-Op to consider carrying beer from Humble Sea Brewing Co. Davis is far away from the Ocean, but drinking a beer from Humble Sea brings back old memories of being at the beach. Not only are their can designs extremely cool, but they also have some of the best-tasting beer I have had. Walking down the street to the Co-OP and grabbing a beer from my favorite company would be amazing! Here is the link to the company website https://humblesea.com/ And here is the link to contact them about stocking their products https://humblesea.com/pages/shop-beer-and-merch

Email Response:

Thank you so much for your request for Humble Sea, and thank you for supporting the Co-op! I have reached out to Humble Sea several times, and have not heard anything back from them unfortunately. I will continue to reach out, as I know they deliver to this area because I have seen Humble Sea at Nugget. I always visit Humble Sea when I am in Santa Cruz, I agree their beer is amazing! I will keep you posted if I hear anything from them. Cheers!

Comment:

Since the last time I use the restrooms at the co-op there have been air fresheners added. Air fresheners are a migraine trigger for me by the time I got home. I’m in a full-blown migraine attack and not able to make dinner for my family. Please remove the air fresheners and avoid them in future. Thank you.

Response:

Could not reach out to customer however, starting 7/1/24 we will be using eco friendly restroom scents.

Specialty

Request that we carry:

Divina mixed olives with pits

Email Response:

Thank you so much for the suggestion! We will add your suggestion to our list. Have you happened to try our specialty olives that we package in-house? There are a variety of olive types (greek and Italian) and include whole olives with different brines and olive oil/seasonings. They are delicious and are a favorite of ours. They are located to the right of our cheese counter and priced equally as Divina, perhaps even more economical. If you try these, I’d love to know your thoughts because they are some of the best I’ve had in the US!

Deli

What if the Co-op did this:

Hi Deli Dept., My family is vegan and we buy vegan Prime Roots deli meats from you. We vacationed in Oregon last month and found that the Prime Roots products are much less expensive there while the other deli foods were priced comparable to those in California. Can you check the prices and see if it would be possible to lower yours? The photo is from the deli counter at Market of Choice in Eugene Oregon. https://davisfood.coop/wp-content/uploads/formidable/7/IMG_3683-scaled.jpeg

Email Response:

Thanks for your feedback and bringing this to our attention. We’re happy that you are purchasing Prime Roots from us! We definitely understand your sentiment with pricing and will definitely do what we can by reassessing costs and pricing with Prime Roots.

I have to say that the price you saw in Oregon was a great deal and price. To be completely honest, it would be very hard for us to match that price in order for us to make a profit with the Prime Roots line. I don’t like to speculate on another store’s operations, but a few factors that come to mind that may have allowed them to offer Prime Roots at a great price may be that they got a great deal to initially get the product into their store or that the item had a best by date that was coming up soon.

However, with that being said, we will do our best to reach out to Prime Roots and see if there’s anything we can do collectively to have a better outcome with pricing. Thanks again for the feedback and feel free to reach out if you have any other questions or concerns.

Request that we carry:

Schilling Cider-Strawberry Rhubarb

Response:

I left a voicemail for this customer regarding Schillings cider, and told them to reach out if they had any questions. I let them know the cider was not currently available through our vendor at this time, but we will keep an eye out for it.

Deli

What if the Co-op did this?:

Hello! Could the Co-op please consider not putting powdered sugar on the french toast at the breakfast board and instead having a shaker available for those who want it? That way, those of us who are watching our sugar or are diabetic can enjoy the french toast, too! It would be more inclusive. (I try to scrape it all off, but you can never get it all off) And then I don’t feel well. Thank you

Response:

I Just spoke with the kitchen crew and they did inform me that they can make that change and we do add sugar to make the french toast mix and the vallia extract has sugar as well. Just so the customer knows there is sugar in the ingredients as well.

What if the Co-op did this:

I’d like to advocate for hiring landscaping service that uses electric, not gas, tools/equipment. I’d be happy to make my case for this at an owner meeting (if that is a thing), or whatever is most appropriate

Email Response:

Hi Evan, We appreciate you reaching out and advocating for more sustainability at The Co-op! We would love to have landscapers who utilize electric and hand tools rather than gas. Unfortunately, we could not find a business/company that follows these practices in Yolo County. We did find one in Sacramento however, they are unable to service Davis. Thankfully, the California Assembly Bill 1346 just passed in January which would shift businesses to utilize electric and hand tools and away from gas-powered tools; however, we are not sure how long that would take to implement. We will surely make the request to a current landscaper and see where we can lean more into hand tools where they can Thank you again for reaching out, we value you as a member and for being a part of our community.
