As a member, you also have a voice in how the store is run through elections and by serving on our board (if you're interested and elected). Once the deli re-opens, members will again enjoy the digital member-only punch cards for every 10th sandwich and coffee free! Nope. Everyone is welcome to shop at the Co-op, no membership is required. Becoming a Member simply adds extra benefits, like rewards, special savings, and a voice in the cooperative. If you would like to support more local growers, makers, and a business that exists for the community, consider shifting some of your grocery list to our wonderful store!
The Co-op is unique! We're the only grocery store in Yolo County owned by the community—by people like you & your neighbors. As a cooperative, we don't hoard profits for executives. We reinvest the money we make back into our Members, community, staff, and store, strengthening our local food system and economy. Unlike corporate grocery stores, 100% of the Co-op's leadership is based right here on G Street. This enables us to respond quickly to new challenges and the community's evolving needs!
When you shop here, you support the incredible network of local farms, businesses, non-profits, and people we partner with every day. We're proud to offer thoughtful and diverse products from more than 400 local producers. When you shop local, more money, jobs, and expertise stay in our community. We also prioritize direct community support through giving programs like Round Up at the Register, Community Discount, and more. When you become a Member, you ensure we can remain a community cornerstone, proving this support for decades to come. See more in the ways that we give, here
As a community-owned grocery store, supporting local farmers is at the heart of what we do, and several of our local farmers were founders of the Davis Food Co-op! We prioritize sourcing from local farms to provide our community with high-quality, organic produce while strengthening the regional food system. We build strong, ongoing relationships with our local farmers and regularly visit their farms to learn more about their stories, growing practices, and the passion behind their work. In-store, we highlight local products with signage that shares where items come from and introduces the farms behind them.
We're committed to small farms too! We source produce from beginning farmers with unpredictable yields, micro-farms with a single seasonal crop, and intrepid urban farmers growing food in unlikely places. Other grocery stores can't support these farms, they aren't made to—but we are!
Here at The Co-op, we pride ourselves on our high standards for quality, sustainability, and humane practices. We prioritize brands that treat their livestock with conscientious care, thoughtful handling, proper nutrition and access to the outdoors. Our Seafood is chosen based on the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch™ standards.
