Recipe: Rice Puffs with Irish Whiskey & Chocolate

What if these treats really grew up? Let's say that you asked undergraduate rice crispy treats what they wanted to be when they grew up and got a real job? I think they'd answer: Irish Whiskey, Chocolate, and Cinnamon puffed rice treats. Well, two cups of puffed rice got their wish granted this weekend.


2 cups marshmallows
2 cups puffed rice
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
2 oz. dark chocolate (70% plus)
2 Tbsp. Irish Whiskey


In a 3-quart pot or larger, melt the marshmallows. Turn off the heat and add the cinnamon, chocolate, and whiskey. Stir until well combined—about 20 seconds. Add the puffed rice and combine.

Press the mixture into a one-quart bowl lined with plastic wrap (for easier extraction). Chill in the refrigerator for 40 minutes. It will set, but not get hard
