Recipe: Gravy


8 oz. sausage, hamburger or non-meat version
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. flour
1-1/2 cups milk
salt, pepper and red pepper flakes to taste


Crumble and sauté meat until lightly browned. Remove from pan and drain. If using actual meat, pour grease from skillet. In same skillet, heat oil. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Add milk in a thin stream, stirring constantly. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until thick, about 5 minutes. Stir in meat and add seasonings to taste.
