Recipe: Cranberry Sauce - Stove Top Version


1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 cups cranberries


Wash and pick over cranberries. In a LARGE heavy saucepan (at least a 10 cup pan) stir the sugar into the water until completely dissolved. Cook over medium heat, watching closely, until sugar comes to a boil. Cook 5 minutes. Reduce heat to low, add berries and orange rind, and cook, uncovered, until berries begin to pop and become translucent, about 10 minutes. Serve warm or pour into molds and refrigerate until firm.
