Our Ends
The Board of Directors are a vital part of being a democratically run cooperative. They act as representatives of all members and ensure our co-op is thriving and will continue to be a cornerstone of community and ethically-sourced groceries. Board Members are elected via an annual co-op election and serve three-year terms.
The next board meeting will be held on Monday, September 14th at 6 PM.

For the past six years, I’ve had the honor of serving on the Davis Food Co-op (DFC) Board. I want to continue to work towards The Co-op's ability to meet Our Ends, serve as a community hub, and be a model of a successful, vibrant, cooperatively run store.
With a background in mental health therapy and disability advocacy, I strive to bring a fresh perspective to The Co-op. My goal is to build upon The Co-op’s already impressive offerings and promote inclusivity and accessibility.
I am a proud member of the Davis Food Co-op and frequent shopper. Outside the Board of Directors, I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Davis. I hope to contribute research insights as a resource to our store.
With experience as an agribusiness Peace Corps Volunteer and work in agriculture and sustainability, I feel that I can bring a unique perspective to The Board. I align deeply with The Co-op Ends and supporting robust and regenerative food systems with connections to local agriculture.
I am honored to be a part of the Davis Food Co-op Board. I believe in the cooperative business model and look forward to supporting access to locally grown produce and wholesome food while making our store more accessible to all people.
I believe that working to support a food system that is fair and sustainable is one way I can help address climate change, and economic inequality, I hope to help the board make good choices that further the co-op’s mission and allow it to thrive as a great place to work, shop, and engage with our community.
As a dedicated member and employee of the Davis Food Cooperative for the past 14 years, I’m passionate about our community-owned model and sustainable and ethical food practices. I will work with fellow board members to guide our future impact during varying economic and social times while acting as an employee representative.
As a dedicated employee of 15 years and Store Support Manager, I’m eager to bring my passion and expertise to the board. I believe that The Co-op is more than just a grocery store – it’s a hub of the community, where people gather to share their love of local food and sustainable living.
Thank you, DFC members, for voting in this year’s elections! You have elected 3 board candidates to serve our cooperative for the next three years. Newly elected board members include: Briza Ramirez (29.9% of votes), Vince Ortiz (24.3% of votes), and Joe Martin (24.2% of votes).
Our Round Up recipient for August, 2026 will be Yolo Diaper Bank which received 21.8% of your votes. Our Round Up recipient for September, 2026 is The Davis Schools Foundation (16.0% of votes) and since the Orphan Kitten Project also received 16% of votes, we will honor the democratic interests of our members, and they will be our Round Up recipient for January 2027!

The Board develops and maintains policies to provide overall direction and ensure the long-range security and viability of the Co-op. These are available for members at any time!
