THE CO-OP BELONGS TO EVERYONE
It is our responsibility to our diverse Members, shoppers, staff, and community members to actively practice inclusivity. For us, that looks like ensuring our policies, staffing, management, communications, accessibility and attitudes are aligned and accommodating to everyone in our community.
While diversity is a measurable quality, inclusion is better understood as action. In 2021, we took steps to make the Co-op more inclusive and will continue to do so under the guidance of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce. Some of these measures include adding pronouns to staff name tags, 1:1 support for those who need a guide or assistance shopping, and recognizing that the Co-op occupies Indigenous land.
Our buyers ensure our store offers diverse products and products founded by all. We have labels on the shelf to highlight brands founded and operated by Women, LGBTQ+, Indigenous, Black, Latinx, and Asian American and Pacific Islander owners.
These shelf labels are meant to help shoppers make informed decisions!
The Co-op hosts one of two community Freedges in town and coordinates with the Freedge volunteers to ensure the Freedge is operational and clean!
Anyone is welcome to donate or take items from the Freedge. “Take what you need, leave what you don’t.”
