Bulk Comment:
It would be helpful if the bulk teas had their real ingredients listed on them, like “Relaxing Tea, ingredients. “Relaxing tea” isnt so helpful but listing ingredients would be 🙂 (there were multiple of these examples)

Response:

I think this would be a great idea. We would need to see if the full ingredients listing is available from the manufacturers first, and then we’ll have to make the edits in Catapult. Once that’s done we should be able to print out some new labels for those items on the floor. I can work with center store to see if we can find the relevant information somewhere.

Produce Request that we carry:
Hello,
I wanted to obtain one or two packets of seeds from Redwood Seeds that I have not seen on the Co-op’s seed racks:
California Sungold.
Can you let me know if you can add this variety to your next order, and when it might come in? I know I can order it online but I would rather not pay the $5 postage fee for a single packet of seed, if I can obtain the seed locally.
Thank you.

Response:
I spoke with the company and the soonest they would arrive would be Tuesday / Wednesday next week. I called the customer and left a voicemail with the information.

Deli Thanks! I’d like to praise:
I just want to drop a note to give praise to the deli folks who prepared the most delicious sandwiches for us. I had family from out of town, and it was fun to introduce them to the Full Hippie Burger. I love to see the look on people’s faces when I describe the ingredients and then to see the look when they bite into it! Totally loved by adults and kids, vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike! Thanks again.

Response:

Hi,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your wonderful feedback! We are thrilled to hear that you and your family enjoyed the Full Hippie Burger from our deli.

We’re happy to know that our deli team’s efforts in preparing delicious sandwiches have left such a positive impression on you and others. The Full Hippie Burger is indeed a unique and flavorful creation, and we are delighted that it appeals to both adults and kids, as well as vegetarians and non-vegetarians. It’s not only a favorite among our customers but our staff as well!

If there’s anything else we can do to enhance your future visits or if you have any specific preferences you’d like us to consider, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We look forward to serving you and your family again soon!

Once again, thank you for choosing our deli, and we appreciate your support.

Please put a sign at every register about the Round Up at the register program and each months beneficiary. We can raise much more $ for orgs!

Response:

Hi,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your valuable feedback with us regarding our Round Up at the Registers Program. We truly appreciate your advocacy and support for this program and its recipients.

At the moment, we are focusing on our “Run for the Board” campaign and utilizing that space to inform Owners about this important initiative. While our emphasis is currently on the “Run for the Board” campaign, I want to assure you that we plan to resume promoting our Round Up recipients in February.

Once again, thank you for your feedback, advocacy, and commitment to our community. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Hello
I was hoping to get any help with a question?? I’m new to the area and was looking into taking classes on bread making and pickling . I did see you Co Op offers classes is there any other places I could look? Pickling would be a fun and interesting class. Thank you for your time and everything you do help the community!

Response:
I received your suggestion box comment about our Teaching Kitchen classes. They are very popular and sell out quite fast. That being said, we have room for one more in the whole wheat bread class on 1/26. If you are still interested, I will follow up with a link where you can purchase a ticket. I always recommend folks “follow” us on our Eventbrite so you get emailed when we post new classes, which we do on a quarterly basis.

We’ve gotten another request recently for a pickles class. I will take that into consideration when crafting the spring schedule! Thank you for your support of the Co-op, Terri!

Hi! We moved to Davis in 2022 from Portland have loved going to the Davis Co-op. But I have been missing my favorite yogurt terribly. It’s called Liberte Yogurt and it’s organic and made with whole milk. I can’t find any other yogurt that can match the creaminess, silkiness and yumminess, a bite of it really is heaven. Please please consider carrying this, I feel like it fits the Co-op perfectly. Here’s their website. Thank you for your time!

Response:

Thank you for reaching out to request we carry Liberte Yogurt from Portland! I am so glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the Co-op since moving to Davis. We have tried sourcing this brand through our usual and unusual distributors and are having a bit of trouble, but we’re trying one more thing. Thank you for your patience as we try to bring in this brand! We’ll update you as soon as we have more information.

Comments:

Unfortunately for the past several weeks the front patio has been “occupied” by persons who most likely don’t have any care for personal hygiene. I understand that there are people in the community who don’t have a home but I cannot enjoy the patio any longer due to the overwhelming smell. Neither do I see these usual occupants shopping in the store or truthful customers. I don’t think it’s okay to allow unkept people to occupy the patio every single day without any management control. Its a matter of personal space and it’s really unfortunate to the loyal customers (and likely employees) that do wish to enjoy the patio in peace… something must be done about this issue or it will invite more bothersome residents.

Response:

“Good Morning, Thank you so much for reaching out about your concern. I understand you are talking about the houseless folks who spend time on our Patio. Our Ends, which guide our decision making at the Co-op, begin, “The Davis Food Co-op exists to serve as a community store and gathering place for current and future owners…” This is why we have a beautiful Patio space, Teaching Kitchen, and why we love to host events. We offer free WiFi to encourage gathering on the Patio and have heaters for when it is cold. If there is some potential threat, our Management Team is trained to protect the safety of those involved and there are times when we do ask folks to move away from the front of the store. The houseless folks who I’ve interacted with on the Patio are usually friendly or quiet and unobtrusive. I invite you to consider that our houseless neighbors do not lack for care of personal hygiene, but lack regular access to the resources that make caring for oneself manageable. We do our best to funnel what resources we can to our houseless neighbors through food donations and partnerships with local shelters and organizations. Cooperative Principle 7, Concern for Community, helps ground me in our purpose as more than just a grocery store. I am always happy to chat with members of our community about our Co-op. Please feel free to call my direct line (530) 758-2667 ext. 124 or drop by and ask for Christine Tuesday-Saturday. In cooperation and gratitude,”

Comment:

I worked for Robert Cole Honey in 1982. It was a bit of a scam. They took honey from all over the world and mxed it and sold it as Wild Mountain Honey. Uncooked. I dont think the label has changed but it was not wild mountain honey and it was definitely heated. Might want to check the warehouse, its in Oakland. He marketed at least 20 kinds of honey but they were all the same.

Email Response:

Hi, Thank you so much for the heads up about Cole’s Pure Wild Mountain Honey. Our Center Store team is digging into the issue including following up with our reps. This is a very popular product so I am sure folks will want to know what’s up. If you have any more info, feel free to let us know.

Email Response:

I hope this email finds you well. Thank you for taking the time to bring your concerns about the pricing of our Amy’s Cheese Pizza to our attention. I understand that you have noticed a price difference between our Amy’s Cheese Pizza and Nugget’s pricing. I’d like to inform you that our Amy’s pizzas are currently on a special promotional sale from February 14th to February 27th, and during this period, they are priced at $8.99. Please consider cleaning the bulk shelves around the honey/olive oil. They are really dusty.

Hello, Thank you for reaching out to us about the dusty bulk bins. I am so sorry bulk was looking less than its best.
