Alex Linn founded Mermaid Sushi in 2000 after wanting to create a higher quality and more sustainable convenient sushi process. Mermaid Sushi’s first location was in Harvest Market, Fort Brag where a previous DFC General Manager discovered Mermaid Sushi and worked with Alex to open their second in-store-to-go restaurant in 2002 at the Davis Food Co-op in Davis, CA. Since then, they have been providing Davis affordable and high-quality sushi. In 2025, Mermaid Sushi from the Davis Food Co-op was voted best in Davis, CA by influencers, Richard & Gray (My Davis California), on their infamous Instagram and TikTok pages.
Mermaid Sushi is made fresh each day with the best natural and high-quality ingredients including sustainably sourced crab, salmon, and tuna. Their ginger is natural, free of the common artificial sweetener, saccharin, which is used in most sushi restaurants. Their wasabi is also natural with no artificial colorants.
