Run for the Board 2019 is soon upon us. If leadership, democracy, and cooperativeness are your strengths, you might be a good candidate to run for the Board of Directors at the Davis Food Coop. Being on the board is where you get to collaborate and work with others who share a love and vision for our thriving food Co-op.

This year we have three positions opening up, so we are excited and welcome some new blood on our board. Owners who have a passion for the Co-op, along with attributes to contribute, we welcome you to run and be a part of this great community organization.

Serving on the board is a great opportunity to actively be part of a democratically

owned business, which is why many shops at the Davis Food Co-op. The Board’s job is to represent the owners while ensuring that the Co-ops ends and operations meet the
needs and vision of the owners and larger community. This involves important work that can be challenging but can have a pronounced impact on the growth and vital well
being of the Co-op.

If you’re wondering what more does a Board member’s job entails, you can check out the website elections page and/ or attend our
orientation on March 4 that 6:30 in the teaching kitchen. There you will be able to speak to current board members and learn more about it. Also, don’t forget that you can come to our monthly board meetings to get a glimpse of what the board is working on and how it conducts its meetings. Once you have decided that you are ready to commit, you will need to submit your candidacy by March 22. It is easy to do online.

Running for the board is simple and you don’t have to be a politician. So if you are interested in growing your Co-op, lace up your boots and get ready to run!
