Corn Salad with Chile and Lime
First Fruits Cocktail for Kwanzaa
During Kwanzaa, spirits are raised figuratively and literally. This recipe by LaShana Daniels and Ashlee Tuck features ingredients made from crops that flourish on the African continent.
1½-2 ounces bourbon or whiskey (we recommend using a Black-owned brand like Uncle Nearest)
1 ounces Orgeat
½ ounce orange liqueur such as Triple Sec
¾ cup of hot chai rooibos tea
Orange wheel for garnish
Fill an 8-12 ounce heat-resistant glass or mug with ¾ cup of hot water.
Add 1 chai tea bag to the glass and steep for 5-7 minutes, then squeeze the excess water out of the bag.
Add remaining ingredients to glass and stir for 30 seconds. Garnish with an orange wheel and enjoy!
