Moroccan Cinnamon Oranges
2 sweet oranges
2 to 4 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
1 tbsp orange blossom water
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon, plus more for sprinkling
Slice the end off each pole of the fruit. Stand the orange up on one of the flat sides you just created. Use a paring knife to cut away pith and peel, revealing only flesh below. Now slice each orange into ¼ inch slices. Repeat with the remaining oranges.
Toss slices together with juice, orange blossom water, and cinnamon. Allow to chill in the fridge for 1 hour. After an hour, serve with a final sprinkle of cinnamon. If you’d like, make a cardamom whipped cream to go with the oranges – not so traditional, but very delicious. With a hand mixer, whisk together 1/2 cup whipping cream with 1 teaspoon of maple syrup, 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and 1/8-1/4 tsp ground cardamom until soft peaks form. Spoon over chilled oranges.
