NA Strawberry Orange Fizz
8 oz. strawberries, hulled and quartered
3 in. fresh ginger, peeled and sliced
Three 3-in. strips of orange peel
1/3 cup honey or 1/4 cup maple syrup
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 cup water
Pinch of sea salt
to serve: 2-3 tablespoons strawberry orange syrup
to serve: Ice
to serve: 6 ounces sparkling water
to serve: Strawberries, orange slices, and/or mint leaves for garnish
Place ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 8 minutes, until the liquid in the pot is bright pink. Cool for five minutes, then pour through a fine-mesh strainer into a bowl or jar, using a spoon to push on the solids in the strainer to extract as much liquid as possible. Cool.
To make each drink, add 2-3 tablespoons of syrup to serving glasses. Add ice cubes. Fill with sparkling water. Garnish with fruit and mint. Enjoy! Syrup will stay good in the fridge for a week.
