Pan-Seared Cinnamon Bananas with Toasted Walnuts

Difficulty:

In a small bowl, stir together honey (or maple syrup), water, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and a pinch of sea salt. Set aside.

Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add butter and let it melt until lightly foamy and just beginning to brown.

Place banana slices cut-side down in the pan. Sear undisturbed for 1–2 minutes until golden and caramelized. Flip carefully and cook another 1–2 minutes.

Reduce heat slightly and pour the cinnamon syrup mixture into the pan. Let it bubble gently for 1–2 minutes, spooning the glaze over the bananas as it thickens into a glossy caramel.

Remove from heat and sprinkle with orange zest. Transfer to a plate and top with chopped toasted walnuts for crunch. Spoon any extra caramel sauce from the pan over the top.

Serve warm on their own or over yogurt, pancakes, oatmeal, or ice cream. Enjoy!
