Traditional Lemonade

6 cups water

1 cup lemon juice

1 cup sugar

I recommend making a simple syrup to mix in the sugar. This will guarantee all the sugar dissolves.

  1. Mix one cup of water and the sugar over medium heat until all the sugar had dissolved and set aside to cool.
  2.  Once cooled, add the remaining 5 cups of water and lemon juice to the simple syrup.
  3. Chill or serve immediately with lots of ice.

 

Optional add-ins:

Add two springs of basil. These can do in the finished lemonade fresh. Alternatively, give them a rough chop and mix in with the simple syrup, and strain before using.

More fruit! Fresh fruit is great in lemonade! Add strawberries, peaches, or cucumbers.
